Our favorite week of the year is in Key West for Fantasy Fest and each time
we go we have more and more friends who enjoy the fun and festivities with
us. This time due to airline schedules and changes we arrived much earlier
than expected, which gave us more time to party, which is OK as the first
part of the week seems to be getting better and better, then just gets
crazier as the week moves closer to Friday and Saturday. In
fact we decided to leave on Saturday afternoon so we do not have to worry
about the young drunk guys that start flooding Duval Street starting on
Friday night.
Again we stayed at The Heron House which is a lovely B & B just a few
blocks away from the "street" action but it allows you to relax and charge
up your batteries during the day on their clothing optional sundeck. 23
beautiful rooms situated around a serene tropical escape, which is needed
after all the late night parties.
Cheri is ready for the street on red night outside The Heron House and all our
friends enjoying that sun deck. This year though the deck was hardly
used due to cloudy skies and rain showers. We were able to enjoy the
annual wine tasting event hosted by our good friends Lance and Libby
on Wednesday.
For this pictorial report we thought we would change it ever so slightly and
organize it by activities, if that is what you can call them and not by days. First
is a look at the daily calendar and a picture for each day through out the week:
Monday: Kelly's Fetish Night
Tuesday: Capt. Tony's Plaid Night
Wednesday: Fogarty's Red Night
Sunday: Our Own Night
Friday: Body Painting Contest
Saturday: The Rolling Stones
There are so many things to do while at Fantasy Fest, such as eating,
drinking, lots of walking, meeting wonderful people, photography,
hitchhiking, window "shopping" and of
course dancing. So dancing and partying go hand in hand most anywhere, but in
Key West it can be a little more exciting whether it be inside or
outside, in the sunshine or pouring rain.
Dancing
Exciting, thrilling, interesting and fun is body painting and over the years
we, or should we say, Cheri has become more and more creative. She has
come a long way from the first dice or flames artwork five years ago,
especially with the help of Pashur. Who can forget Medusa and
third place finish last year of the Geisha Girl but this year it was
all topped by a first place finish in the 7th Annual Live Art Airbrush
Competition with Gnomes, Toads and White Rabbits. It took nearly 4
hours and two assistants for Pashur to finish his master piece on Friday
afternoon and this was after 2 hours the previous day with "Welcome to Las
Vegas". Fortunately on Saturday morning The Rolling Stones "Lips" was
a fifteen minute job but Mick and Keith would have been proud.

paint dry.
Start & Finish
One morning Cheri had a special surprise, she found a lady who would make a
cast of her nipples and from that cast she could make wonderful chocolate
gifts for special friends to enjoy. A little early though so the
"headlights" needed some help turning on.
A late night stop a few years ago has now become a wonderful photo
opportunity which now draws quite a crowd. If only the shop knew how to
capitalize on their nightly window display.
Photography
Everybody brings a camera to Fantasy Fest and if they don't they certainly
will buy one after being on the street for just a minute or two. It's
amazing how many flashes go off as you walk the streets or go in the bars.
We all have to be thankful for digital cameras nowadays, because we are not
sure that CVS, Target or Costco will print the majority of pictures that are
taken with a regular camera. The best part of FF is that 99% of the people
will always ask if they can take a picture, unless that's not needed and
they can see that the girls are "posing".
We always bump into one or two who want to be able to take a special shot.
Our favorite photographer is Jack who puts together a great FF website (and more) www.fantasyfestmemories.com
Together
Very rarely do we have photographs taken of us together. If we do it's either
by balancing a camera on a wall or a table, unless we are able to carry
around a tripod, which never makes sense to do at Fantasy Fest but as we
attend more and more Fantasy Fest's people are now sending us some very
interesting pictures.
The Hard Rock
Another favorite spot of ours is the Hard Rock Cafe, not just in Key
West but any of their cafes worldwide, the exception of course is a slightly
different documentation of our visit to this one.
What could be more rock than The Rolling Stones? So they showed us their
special room dedicated to The Best Rock and Roll Band in the World and we
were wondered if Mick knew about Fantasy Fest.
